Shooting Stars, Ring Slot & Torag and Karil Sets
Game Updates
Published Thursday, 3 September 2026

Hello everyone! Three things in this update: a brand new world event, a new equipment slot, and long overdue set effects for two Barrows sets.

Shooting Stars

Crashed Star

Roughly every 90 minutes, a star crashes somewhere in the world. Find it, mine it for stardust, and trade that stardust to Dusuri in Falador for mining rewards.

Only one star exists at a time and it is shared by everyone on the server, so finding one is worth telling people about.

Mining a star works differently to a normal rock. A star does not deplete when you mine it successfully. Instead each layer takes 7 minutes of being mined, no matter how many people are working on it, and then the star shrinks by one size. Each successful swing gives 1 stardust and 32 Mining experience.

Your pickaxe matters more here than anywhere else. Because a layer is timed rather than counted, a better pickaxe fits more swings into those 7 minutes. A dragon pickaxe pulls roughly four times the stardust of a bronze one from the same star.

Finding one needs the telescope in Falador, which requires the Observatory Quest to be completed. It tells you the region a star will land in and roughly when, but not the exact spot, so you will still have to search. Beside it is the Shooting Star Noticeboard, listing the last five players to discover a star.

Being first matters. The first player to mine or prospect a fresh star gets double stardust for their next 300 dust, and their name on the board. You do not need the Mining level for the star to claim it, so simply prospecting one is enough.

Rewards at Dusuri include the celestial ring, a bag of 40 uncut gems, and a soft clay pack.

Ring Slot

RSCDynasty never had a ring slot. It does now.

For the moment the only ring usable in the game is the celestial ring from Dusuri, but the slot itself is fully built, so any rings we add in future will simply work. It appears in the equipment display tab alongside everything else and you can also hold your mouse over the ring to see the celestial ring benefits.

The celestial ring gives an invisible +4 Mining toward your chance of success while worn, charged or not. While charged it also gives a 1 in 10 chance of an extra ore on every ore rock except runite. Charge it with stardust, one stardust per charge, up to 10,000.

Barrows Set Effects

Two Barrows sets had effects that did nothing on RSC, because they were built around OSRS mechanics which does not have an impact here.

Torag the Corrupted

Torag's hammers now hit twice per attack. Your maximum hit is split in half and each hit rolls its own accuracy and damage against its own half. Your total maximum is unchanged, so the hammers are not stronger, they are steadier: two smaller rolls average out more reliably than one large one, which means fewer misses and fewer huge hits.

The full set now increases your Defence as your health falls, by 0.5% for every 1% of Hitpoints missing. At half health that is +25% Defence, at a tenth it is +45%. It is an invisible boost, so it will not show in your equipment stats.

That makes Torag's the mirror of Dharok's. Dharok gets more dangerous the closer he is to death, Torag gets harder to kill.

Previously the set drained the target's run energy, which RSC does not have.

Karil the Tainted

The full set now gives your ranged attacks a 10% chance to hit twice. The second hit deals half the damage of the first and both land on the same tick. It works on players and monsters alike.

Previously the set drained the target's Agility, which does nothing in combat.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where degrading Barrows items did not degrade at all while ranging outside of melee combat. Anyone who has only been ranging has effectively had permanent Barrows equipment until now.
  • Fixed a bug where it was possible to thieve an NPC just as it died.
  • Fixed a bug when dropping chargeable items where the wrong item was removed if you carried several of the same item with different charge counts.
  • Added Gem Capes information page to the wiki: https://www.dragonfire.gg/server-features/rscdynasty/items/gem-capes/
  • Zaros godsword has been reverted to a F2P item, per community request.
  • Vaults and Bolt racks have been removed from the collection log, per community request.
